Prof. Dr. Steven Thiessen, PhD
Head of the Department for Clinical Research.
Prof. dr. Steven Thiessen earned his medical degree at KULeuven, after which he followed his Anesthesiology and Intensive Care residency.
He pursued a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesiology at Barts Health NHS Trust in London and a fellowship in Intensive Care in Royal Brompton Hosptial in London.
Supported by a FWO Aspirant Scholarship, he obtained his PhD at KULeuven under supervision of Prof dr. Greet Van den Berghe and Prof. dr. Ilse Vanhorebeek. He is a visiting professor at KULeuven and Hasselt University and principal investigator of several sponsored and investigator-initiated trials.
