Dr. Tom Fivez, PhD
Head of the department of Intensive Care and director of the intensive care training programme.
He obtained his PhD under supervision of Prof Greet Van den Berghe and Prof Dieter Mesotten at the Katholic University Leuven in 2015. During his PhD, he worked at the Intensive Care Unit of the University Hospitals Leuven (2011-2015).
In collaboration with various institutions, he jointly ensures the effective conduct of clinical studies in intensive care. He is a co-author of multiple trials published in leading journals.
Additionally, he plays a significant role in the medical training program at Hasselt University.
He has a particular interest in critically ill pediatric patients and the benchmarking of intensive care unit data.
