Dr. Sam Van Boxstael, PhD

He graduated in 2006 at Catholic Universities Leuven as an emergency physician. After a detour in Defense, he further specialized in anesthesia and intensive care

He obtained his PhD at Hasselt University in 2024 under supervision of prof Dieter Mesotten. He is principal and sub-investigator in several clinical trials.

He has a broad clinical interest with a focus on trauma and critically ill emergency patients. He explores the possibilities of ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia in the emergency department. He holds a postgraduate degree in Disaster Management and is an ATLS instructor.
