Dr. Roel Mestrum
Dr. Mestrum became an anaesthesiologist in 2009 (University of Antwerp). He subsequently completed fellowships in Chronic Pain and Intensive Care Medicine at the Hospital Oost-Limburg (ZOL) and an observership at the Multidisciplinary Pain Center of the University of Washington in Seattle (USA).
In 2010 he obtained the Fellow in Interventional Pain (FIPP) certificate from the World Institute of Pain (WIP) in Budapest (Hungary) and in 2011 he was recognized as an intensivist. He is a staff member at the Heilig Hart Hospital Tienen and the Multidisciplinary Pain Center of the Hospital Oost-Limburg in Genk. In Tienen he coordinates the Pain Center and sits on the Medical Council. In 2020 he became a member of the Board of the ‘Vlaamse Anesthesiologische Vereniging voor Pijnbestrijding (VAVP)’. His special interest is in locoregional anesthesia, pharmacology, facial pain and Ultrasound Guided Pain Management. Over the years he was involved in various national and international ultrasound courses and workshops of various societies (including VAVP, NVAsPijn, WIP, ESRA, ...).
