Dr. Martine Puylaert
Dr. Puylaert received a basic training as an anesthesiologist. She followed a fellowship in Emergency Medicine and Chronic Pain. She is holder of the Fellow in Interventional Pain (FIPP) certificate from the World Institute of Pain (WIP) since 2003.
She works as a staff member in the Anesthesiology department and in the Multidisciplinary Pain Centre of the Hospital Oost-Limburg, Genk, Belgium and also has a consultancy at Maastricht University Medical Center for cancer pain treatments.
Her points of interest are invasive cancer pain treatments, visceral pain and neuromodulation. On these topics, she published articles and was co-author on book chapters. She is member of the National Advisory Board of Neuromodulation of Belgium. She is member of the board of the World Institute of Pain section Benelux since 2015 and executive president since 2019.
Furthermore, dr. Puylaert is active in teaching as the director of the Dutch FIPP preparation cadaver course in Nijmegen. She is also an examiner at the FIPP exams from the World Institute of Pain. She is the organizer of the biannual Modular Educational Program Pain for paramedics. This will be organized for the fifth time in 2025.
