Dr. Koen Van Boxem, PhD
Dr. Van Boxem obtained his PhD in 2014 about lumbosacral radicular pain and the Fellow in Interventional Pain (FIPP) certificate from the World Institute of Pain (WIP) in 2002. In 2018 he obtained the European Diploma Pain Medicine (EDPM) from the European Pain Federation (EFIC). He is vice-president of the World Institute of Pain section Benelux and since 2018 member of the educational committee of this world-wide organization. From 2018 until 2023 he was the president of the ‘Vlaamse Anesthesiologische Vereniging voor Pijnbestrijding (VAVP)’ in Belgium. Since 2022 he is Co-section editor of Pain Practice and board member of the scientific committee organizing the congress of EFIC in 2023 Budapest. Since 2024 he is examinator of the European Diploma Pain Medicine.
He is lecturer at the faculty of Pain Medicine at the University of Hasselt, Belgium. He authored more than 30 articles in PubMed indexed and 7 book chapters.
